Petals

Vivid petals bloom and trace,
colors dance, uniquely placed.

Swirls of vibrant hues surround;
whispered beauty, made no sound.

Silent cries from empty lungs,
Covered mouth and stolen tongue.

Never howled, and never crooned.
Bathed in light from Mother Moon;

Like the flesh, a voice then bloomed,
Tearing through the evening gloom.

Fiery eyes from under hood,
Set alight surrounding woods.

Clad in robes of deepest red,
Flame now burned what fear had bred.

Siren’s call, truth spoke their names;
Watched them fall among the flames.

One by one to ash and dust,
Swept away by windy gusts.

Dauntless petals sing again,
Mute no more to wicked men.
